The well “is located on the banks of a stream not far from the Knockmaroon Gate in the Phoenix Park. It is known locally as St Brigid’s Well, as there are recent signs of vernation in the offerings. It is approached by three granite steps and the year 1894 is inscribed over the [stone]” (Branignan 2012: 68).
