According to Branigan, “This well is located in a small side chapel in the reception area of Our Lady of Mount Carmel church in Whitefriar Street. It was created in more recent times but is strongly venerated as a holy well by local people. It was previously fed by many underground springs but due to health and safety concerns it was connected to the mains water supply” (Branigan 2012: 80).
