Branigan records that “this well was located in the south-west corner of the area beside St Patrick’s Cathedral now occupied by the park. A small plaque marks the site. During the course of road-widening operations, a large upright cross slab was discovered below ground level and it is generally accepted that this stood over the well” (Branigan 2012: 83).
