Houlihan states that the well lies "SE of the graveyard and ruined hilltop church of Saint Mochulla [...] There is a large pine tree marking the well. Cut-stone steps lead down to the spring which is an insert in a wall and still contains fresh water. It is denoted by a modern Celtic cross on the wall above" (Houlihan 2015: 118).
