The well site includes a burial ground and fairy ring fort associated with the burial of an unbaptized infant. Children who died before being baptized were not allowed in church cemeteries and were often instead buried near holy wells. Some were even buried in places inhabited by fairies in the hopes that the child would be taken in with these magical beings in the afterlife (Houlihan 2015: 45-46)
