The well is located "in a field under tillage across the road from Palmerstown Graveyard within a large conspicuous clump of brambles and hawthorn, and surmounted by a large ash. The well is an unenclosed spring approximately 8ft in diameter and rising in a large natural hollow among these trees. This hollow is nearly impenetrable due to the thick growth of brambles but water is still visible underneath. There is a broken water trough present which presumably, was utilized previously for agricultural purposes” (Branigan 2012:45).
