The well “is located on the coast at the end of Bawn Road in Rush…The spring is located high in a bank thickly covered with brambles and flows down in a small creek…onto the rocks into the sea” (Branigan 2012:49).
“It is well known locally as a place where fisherman gathered to mend their fishing nets, and local tradition holds that anybody who drinks of the water will eventually come to live in Rush, or if a girl drinks the water she will be married within the year” (Branigan 2012:49).
