8 Stories

Long ago, before the public laneway was built, the holy well was situated in a meadow. People used to come into the meadow to visit the holy well. The owner of the meadow did not like this and he filled the holy well in with stones. After he did this, he went blind. Somebody told him that unless he removed every stone from the holy well, he would never see again. He started removing the stones from the well. The moment he removed the last stone, his eyesight came back to him. Somebody helped him back up out of the well and the water sprang up into the well. From that day to this, nobody has interfered with the holy well in Portrun again.
